چکیده

DESCRIPTION This patient is a 76-year-old man with medical history of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and multiple squamous cell skin cancers. Four years prior, he underwent dermatographic resection of a squamous cell carcinoma of the right cheek that had involved the right facial nerve. Two years later, the lesion recurred. Radical resection with control of free margins was performed by the head and neck oncology service. The underlying maxilla and the infraorbital nerve were involved in the resection leaving the above defect.

Deep plane cervicofacial flap: a useful and versatile technique in head and neck surgery.

BACKGROUND Large oncosurgical defects of the cheek present a challenging reconstructive problem, especially when skin resections are combined with other procedures such as parotidectomy and/or neck dissection. METHODS We present our experience with the deep plane cervicofacial flap (DPCFF) for reconstructing zone 1 (n=7), zone 2 (n=6), and zone 3 (n=5) cheek defects resulting from excision of...

Reconstructing Discontinuous Facial Defects with Simultaneous Ulnar Perforator Free Flaps

Multiple, simultaneous skin cancers of the face are common. This is the first description of reconstructing discontinuous facial defects (i.e., separate sites of the face) with simultaneous ulnar perforator flaps. The distinct innovations of this multiple flap design are the ability to restrict the harvest site to one extremity, to obtain vein and arterial grafts from the same extremity, and to...

Modified Approach to the Cervicofacial Rotation Flap in Head and Neck Reconstruction

Objectives: Large cutaneous defects of the cheek and external ear present a reconstructive challenge. While free tissue transfer has been increasingly used for such defects, many patients with these malignancies are poor candidates for lengthy reconstructive surgery. The cervicofacial and cervicothoracic advancement flaps have been previously described as a simple method for reconstructing defe...
